Brief Introduction of Yancheng, Jiangsu

Location:

Yancheng is a provincial city in Jiangsu, it governs Dongtai City and Dafeng city and 6 counties of Xiangshui, Binhai, Funing, Jianhu, Sheyang, yandou. The total coverage of the city is 15,000 square meters, with a population of 7,960,000 people. Yancheng is an ancient city, meanwhile, it is a new developing city in China. From the Western Han Dynasty, it has a history of over 2,100 years for the setting of the city in favor of salt. In March, 1988, the State Department approved Yancheng as a coastal economic development zone.

Industrial Economy:

Yancheng is a new costal industrial developing city. The industrial structure mainly bases on Processing Industry, Light &Textile Industry, Collective Industry, Middle and Small-size enterprises, while the industries of light industry, textile, food, machinery, electro, chemical industry and building material are developing to a certain foundation.The industrial economy of Yancheng has a certain scope and technical level. The whole city has 36,000 all kinds all industrial enterprises, among which Jiangsu Yueda Investment Co.,Ltd, and Jiangsu Jianghuai Engine Co., Ltd. come into the market through Shanghai Stock Exchange and Shenzhen Stock Exchange respectively. The city has 38 province-grade famous brands, and has nearly 200 core products of diesel engine, tractor, automobile and etc. The city has studied and developed over 700 kinds of products every year. There are now 72 provincial technical centers and city technical centers.

Agriculture:

Yancheng city is an important industry and agriculture base in Jiangsu province. Since the reform and opening, the national economy has developed flourishly and all kinds of social affairs have received continuous new progress through deepening the reform, extending the opening, quickening the progress of technology. In 2001, the city realized the gross domestic product of 60,300,000,000 RMB, increasing by 10% compared to that of 2000. The agricultural product of Yancheng has played a very signified role in Jiangsu. The plowland is 9,800,000 Mu, the annual food total production is 4,800,000 tons in normal weather condition, the annual cotton product is 200,000 tons, which is at the top in the province, it is a famous good cotton production base in the country. Yancheng Economic Developing Zone:

Yancheng has 5 provincial developing zones: Yancheng Economic Developing Zone, Sheyang Economic Developing Zone, SheYang Export-orientation Agricultural Integrate Developing Zone, Dafeng Export-orientation Agricultural Integrate Developing Zone, Xiangshui Export-orientation Agricultural Integrate Developing Zone.Yancheng Economic Developing Zone covers 200,000 square meters; it is only 10 kilometers from Yancheng Airport. 204 national road, ChuangChang River, Tongyu Channel and Xinchang Railway go through the zone, the transportation is very convenient.
