Brief Introduction of Gaoyou, Jiangsu

Location:
Gaoyou City is situated in the Yangtze River Delta, i.e.in the North Side of theOpening Economic Development Zone along the Yangtze River,Jiangsu Province. the Beijing-Shanghai expressway and the Beijing-Hanzhou Grand Canal run through the city from the north to the south.
Industry:
The industrial economy develops fast. In Gaoyou, there are about 3000 industrial enterprises, most of which belong to the following sectors: machinery, light industry, textile, mechanical industry, building materials and electronics. These sectors form a complete industrial system. A lot of competitive products are sold well domestically and internationally.The enterprises which produce chemical fertilizer, cement, glass, steel and building materials have a large productive potential.
Agriculture:
The development of agriculture has characteristics of its own one to its. Due to rich natural resources, the agriculture has very good conditions for production. Gaoyou is also known as a region teeming with fish and rice. The agriculture of Gaoyou develops in a comprehensive way. Grain, cotton,edible oil, pig-raising, rabbit-raising, fishery, shrimps crabs, forestery, silkworm-raising, fruit, vegetables all develop well.

In Gaoyou, there are plenty of rivers and lakes. With its plentiful produces, the Gaoyou Lake of blue waves is the third large freshwater lake in Jiangsu and the sixth large freshwater lake in China. The lake teems with over 60 varieties of plants and animals such as fish, shrimps, shellfish, water shield and reeds. The Gaoyou's Speckled Duck is one of the three best duck strains in China. The salted duck egg has been listed in the state-preserved produces in their original areas. The double-yolk duck is famous at home and abroad.
Traffic:
Highways	:	The Beijin-Shanghai expressway and the network of roads in the city make the Gaoyou's transportation convenient and quick.It respectively takes 8 hours, 3.5hours,2.5hours, 2hours, 1.5hours and 0.5hours to drive from Gaoyou to Beijing, Hangzhou, Shanghai, Suzhou, Nangjing and Yangzhou.
Railway	:	It's about only half an hour to Yangzhou Station (Yangzhou can be the starting station to five big cities including Guagnzhou,Xi'an,Wuhan,Shanghai,Beijing ect.). And the HuaiJiang Railway under construction goes along the city.
Airports	:	1.5hours to Lukou Airport in Nanjing, about 2.5 hours to Pudong International Airport of Shanghai.
Waterways	:	The Grand Canal runs through the city from north to south. The Gaoyou-Lake links Jiangsu with AnHui Province. The Yangzhou port nearby is the first-grade opening outside port of the state. The annually handing capacity is 26 million tons.
